Pedals, Pipes, and Pizza - Children's Music Event
On Saturday, February 18th, The Greater Bridgeport Chapter of the American Guild of Organists will be hosting “Pedals, Pipes and Pizza” at the Stratford United Methodist Church, 2600 Main St, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
To attend, please RSVP to Chris Muller before Monday, February 13, 2022.
This event is for children ages 8 and above who are currently taking music lessons and would like to learn about the organ. This is a fun event where everyone gets to learn about and play the instrument (bring your piano music!) Participants will get an opportunity to build a small pipe organ that we then can play! Pizza lunch included – parents/guardians encouraged to stay and observe.
The Orgelkids organ is a mechanical, two rank pipe organ in a box. In the box you find all the parts to build a real organ. Children can build this organ (with a little help of an organbuilder or organist). Different tasks can be done in groups simultaneously: constructing the frame, sorting pipes, sorting keys. Then all the parts come together in the frame: the windchest, the bellows, keys and pipes.
Then … play!
